2023 - 2024 Season

Lego Robotic Challenge - Master Piece - By the numbers

This year, the First Lego League Challenge theme is energy. Each team has to build a lego robot and find innovative ways to tackle 15 different missions (obstacles) under 150 seconds. This year's competition will be held in-person, which will be a different experience than last year for the team.
15 Missions

Each mission is an obstacle that the robot has to accomplish. The goal is to accomplish as many missions under the time limit.

150 seconds

Each team has 2 minutes and 30 seconds to finish as many missions as possible.

1 team, 1 robot

8iBot is using Lego Mindstorm system to build a robot and program using block coding to accomplish our missions.

Update - 2

Robot Battery Cell has Died!

We woke up this morning to find out that our robot's battery was completely dead(it couldn't charge or run programs). We tried to open the battery but it wouldn't open. This means we need to fundraise and quickly buy a new battery.(As you can see in the image, the light for charging is off and when we checked the Mindstorms app, it said 0% 😭)

Update - 2
This year's run is not so successful as last year. Our other teammate Owen is sick and cannot continue(also we forgot to tell everyone that we had an extra teammate who joined late. His name is Zayaan). We did not get into the championships but we got 7th place out of 24th! Big thanks to Marie, Rob, and Saqib(Our coaches) for coaching and guiding the team.

Update - 1
This year we have a new team member, Owen, who is joining the team and bring his passion for Lego building and problem solving to 8iBot team. Unfortunately, one of last year's team member - Phoenix - moved to Spain and won't be able to participate. Today, the team got together for the first time and start building this year's robot.

Unlike last year, this year competition will be in-person! Nov 19th is the first around. Keep it here for more updates.

Update - 2
Out of over 250 teams that started the season, just over 40 teams made into the NJ State Championship yesterday. Our very own 8iBot team participated in the NJ State Championship yesterday and gave a great effort. However, we came up short and our season came to an end. BIG thanks to Marie and Amanda (mothers of the boys) for coaching the boys through their first season. Many thanks to all of the supporters who donated to our GOFUNDME page. Happy Holidays and see you next year!
